Organic Hemp Seeds and Flour
Hemp seeds are basically the fruit or nut of the hemp plant. The seed has the husk taken off – and the texture is quite smooth and creamy. Hemp seeds are amazingly versatile and have been embraced by the health food community because of their nutritional profile – ranging from a reasonable amount of fibre and minerals including magnesium, phosphorus, iron and zinc. Hemp seeds are also high in plant based protein.
Hemp also includes nine essential amino acids and three essential fatty acids – omega 3, 6 and 9 and they are low in carbs. They can be eaten raw as a healthy snack and taste somewhere between a pistachio and pepita (pumpkin seed). They can also be used in home made muesli bars, sprinkled over cereals and added to smoothies.
They’re often used in salads, added into dressings, yoghurt and porridge – they can even be added to the ever popular smashed avocado on toast!
